/ Our History

Vision and Determination

Starting its Activities in 1976, Brafer was initially established as a steel structure design office, born from the dream of engineer Marino Garofani, who has served as the company’s president ever since. In the year following its foundation, Brafer began manufacturing its first structures. Initially, the company focused on small projects, such as roofs and industrial pavilions.

Soon after, came the larger projects, such as the bridge over the Piquiri River, with a 60-meter clear span and weighing 200 tons, which Brafer both manufactured and assembled in 1979. This project stood out for using the most advanced technology available at the time.

By 1980, Brafer had outgrown its rented warehouse, and so the company moved to a new headquarters in Araucária, a municipality near Curitiba. The new location offered a large piece of land with easy access to major highways, where Brafer still operates today.

The Environment and Brafer

Steel, the raw material of Brafer, is not only durable but also recyclable, replacing the use of wood in construction. Brafer plays its part in environmental preservation through processes that further increase the durability of steel.

We have scrap reduction programs, waste management, greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, and effluent treatment. Going beyond production processes, Brafer acquired, in 2009—with its own resources—the only Private Reserve of Natural Heritage in its municipality. This reserve is located near Brafer Araucária and covers a total of 20 hectares of native forest, acquired for its rich biodiversity, and is part of Brafer’s permanent assets.
